Expression of Interest: Environmental Sciences Workshop

27 January 2026

Workshop Title: Exploring the Role of High-Performance Computing (HPC) in Environmental Studies
Organised by: University of the West of England (UWE Bristol)
Date: 4th of March 2026, 09:30 – 16:30
Location: In-person, Imperial College London
EOI Deadline: 15th of February 2026

The “Enhancing HPC adoption through user-centred design: A roadmap for inclusive innovation in environment, health, and the built environment” project invites expressions of interest to participate in a one-day, in-person workshop exploring how High-Performance Computing (HPC) can support research and innovation in environmental sciences.

The workshop will bring together researchers, practitioners, and technical specialists to discuss current challenges and future opportunities for using HPC in areas such as climate and environmental modelling, biodiversity and ecosystem analysis, environmental risk and resilience, and data-intensive sustainability research. A particular focus will be placed on user-centred design, accessibility, trust, and governance of HPC infrastructure.

Through interactive discussions and group activities, participants will contribute to recommendations for a national, federated HPC roadmap, ensuring that the needs of environmental researchers are reflected in future infrastructure, training, and support models. Travel support is available where needed (£150 maximum), in line with project eligibility criteria, to support inclusive participation. Places are limited.

Interested participants are invited to complete a short Expression of Interest form by 15 February 2026. Successful applicants will be notified shortly after the deadline. Here is a link to complete EoI: https://uwe.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cSmMqobRMMFjBDo
