Rui is the Community Engagement Officer for the programme project where his main role is managing the internal and external communications of NFCS.
Rui joined EPCC in 2023 as part of the support team for ARCHER2 and Cirrus, and currently work on two projects with external partners: helping the UK MetOffice update their simulation software for the next generation of supercomputers and with NCAS and NCAR focussing on improving the energy efficiency of atmospheric modelling and simulation. Rui is also the course organizer for Fundamentals of HPC System Administration.
Rui studied Chemistry at the University of Coimbra before moving to Edinburgh for his PhD and then postdoc in Computational Chemistry where he used molecular dynamics simulations to enhance the performance of lubricants in engines and powertrains.
