Job Orchestration using Constellation on Heterogenous HPC resources

We propose to investigate job orchestration across federated HPC services in order to inform the UKRI Federation Roadmap recommendations on the state of the art in this area of federation.

We will prepare a report on the software (Open Source and Commercial) that exists to provide a unified orchestration interface to federated HPC services. We will explicitly compare and contrast these solutions with the recently deployed AIRRPortal service which links the AI Research Resource services at Bristol and Cambridge. Finally, we will develop a proof-of-concept exemplar in collaboration with SME partner ConstelCom, using their Constellation software.
