We’ve funded a range of projects to guide our roadmap for the future
Federated IAM for existing infrastructures
This project will explore the existing options for Identity and Access Management, and how they can be improved and enhanced for use in a Federation.
The Federated IAM for existing infrastructures project will explore a bottom-up approach to Identity and Access Management federation, growing incrementally and organically out of the existing landscape. We will be gathering information form the existing users and operators of current research infrastructures to identify potential use-cases and benefits of improved federation as barriers to greater adoption. Identity and Access Management is a well-developed field. Most research facilities will already have a local IAM system utilising industry standard protocols, these contain definitions of many existing research communities. We plan to explore extending these local systems to allow community information to be exchanged between facilities, streamlining the movement of existing communities.
