We’ve funded a range of projects to guide our roadmap for the future
Federated data movement
This project will improve how large datasets can be made available to users on several HPC systems.
Future advances in computational science depend on researchers managing petabytes of data from machine learning, telescopes, fusion reactors, and other large-scale facilities. While the UK Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI) provides high-speed networks and advanced storage and analysis services, researchers often face barriers in accessing, moving, and using data. Bottlenecks include immature data-management technologies, security and access concerns, and difficulties orchestrating distributed systems. This project addresses large-scale, distributed data management by working with high-priority science cases in fusion, cosmology, and astronomy. Through best practices and demonstrators, we will help researchers fully exploit UK DRI investments.
