We’ve funded a range of projects to guide our roadmap for the future
Enhancing HPC adoption through user-centred design
This project wants to get input from HPC users, to understand their needs with the aim of improving usability and collaboration.
High-Performance Computing (HPC) is vital for tackling challenges in climate science, healthcare, and the built environment, yet many potential users remain excluded by barriers of access, usability, and trust. This project places users at the centre of future HPC design. Through surveys, workshops, focus groups, and training, we will capture the needs of underrepresented communities such as NHS researchers, construction professionals, and environmental scientists. The outcome will be a co-designed roadmap for a trusted, inclusive national HPC federation, ensuring broader participation, improved usability, and governance models that foster collaboration while positioning the UK as a leader in global HPC innovation.
