A national federation of large-scale computing resources can boost research efficiency, accessibility and collaboration.

This Network-Plus will unite diverse communities to create strategic roadmaps, leveraging existing services and technologies to build a coordinated, interoperable and inclusive computing infrastructure across the UK.

National Federated Compute Services Network Plus Autumn Conference 2025
Registration now open

Are you a Digital Research Infrastructure user or provider wondering where you'll be on 22–23 September?

If you're interested in helping us shape a national federation of compute services and the opportunities this will create, then join us at our second national event.

This will be a stimulating combination of expert plenaries and focussed experience sharing and problem-solving across a broad agenda including:

  • Edge federation
  • Data movement and management
  • Inter/transnational collaboration
  • The transition from laptop to cluster
  • Identity and access management
  • HPC for non-traditional users
  • and more

The Conference will also provide an opportunity for partnership building for the programme's second call for DRI Roadmap projects.

Second flexible
funding call

Following a successful first call where 13 projects were funded, we are looking to support more projects that will further:

  • Collect relevant evidence and documentation to contribute to the development of the NFCS roadmap.
  • Contribute to building the DRI community around NFCS.

This funding call is open until 5 October.

Projects can run from 1 December 2025 to 31 July 2026, and funds can be awarded to any UKRI eligible organisation to a maximum of £120K.

We are particularly interested in areas not yet covered by the projects funded in the first call. A summary of these - as well as the guidance document and application form - are available for download.
